Professional Portrait Photography

Participants will be taught how to style & pose a portrait subject.

In this half-day workshop, participants will be taught how to:

  • identify the subject's facial structure and categorize them into 3 major categories
  • understand how to emphasize or de-emphasize the facial characteristic of the subject
  • choose the correct lighting style for the shoot
  • identify the 'beautiful-side' and the 'photogenic-side' of any subject
  • effectively pose the subject with the correct poses that portray good and positive body language
  • understand how to shoot in natural lighting
  • shoot with a single light source and still achieve studio quality portraits
  • understand the various lights used in studio shoots (key lights, fill lights, profile lights, hair lights, contrast lights, etc)
  • understand the styles of lights commonly used in portraiture (Rembrandt lighting, butterfly lighting, loop lighting, paramount lighting, hi-def lighting, single-source lighting, etc)
  • choose the correct shoot concept for the subject: lifestyle, beauty, luxury, fashion, etc

Over the years, Nikonian Academy has built somewhat of a culture-of-excellence where we feature Beauty Queens with prestigious pageant titles as main models for this particular workshop. The followings are Beauty Queens that we have featured before in previous classes.


  Modeling for the 20th October 2009 class is the lovely reigning champion, Thanuja Ananthan.
She's the current Miss World Malaysia 2009/2010.



  Modeling for the 20th October 2009 class is the multi-talented Soo Wincci.
Soo is Miss World Malaysia 2008/2009.
She's also a successful singer and an actress.
 

Natalie Lee


Modeling for the 4th October 2009 class is Natalie Lee. Nicole is the 1st Runner up winner of Miss Malaysia Chinatown International 2006. Natalie's also won Miss Popularity and Miss Beautiful Eyes.




Nicole Sia
 




Nicole Sia is the 1st Runner up winner of Miss Malaysia Model of the World in 2008. She is one of the models for our Portrait Photography classes.

Fees: RM250 per pax
Duration: 4 hours (1 hour theory and 3 hours practical). Practical session is conducted indoor/studio and outdoor too.
Models: Professional models will be hired, with a healthy ratio of 1 model to every 4 or 5 participants.
